(November 18, 2015) OMRI is currently accepting comments for an upcoming revision of the OMRI Policy Manual©. All interested parties are encouraged to participate in the continuous improvement of OMRI's policies and standards.

(September 18, 2015) OMRI (the Organic Materials Review Institute) is very pleased to announce the launch of a new, comprehensive web resource at OMRI.org. The new website features one fast, responsive search with complete information about products and materials for organic use under both the U.S. and the Canadian organic standards.

(September 10, 2015) At the upcoming fall meeting October 26-29, the National Organic Standards Board (NOSB) will be discussing and voting on over 200 generic substances included on the National List. Several substances may not be renewed as part of the NOSB review process, and a number of OMRI Listed® products could be affected by this review.

(July 7, 2015) OMRI is pleased to welcome Johanna Mirenda as the organization's new Technical Director, effective August 3. Johanna's responsibilities will include providing training and education, overseeing OMRI's policies and standards, and managing special projects including Technical Reports for the National Organic Program (NOP).

(June 24, 2015) The OMRI Canada Products List© recently exceeded 100 products, thanks to the committed applicants who make it a priority to verify the organic compliance of their input products. OMRI just began reviewing products to the Canadian Organic Standards in 2014, and the list has grown steadily.

(May 13, 2015) OMRI (The Organic Materials Review Institute) is now working with over 1,000 companies, representing nearly 3,500 OMRI Listed® inputs intended for use in producing organic food and fiber. The OMRI Review Program is a voluntary program that started in 1997 with just a handful of products. Nearly twenty years later, reaching 1,000 companies is an achievement indeed.  

(April 21, 2015) Eugene, OR. OMRI (the Organic Materials Review Institute) is pleased to announce that Executive Director/CEO Peggy Miars has been appointed to the Board of Directors for the International Organic Accreditation Service (IOAS). A member of the World Board for IFOAM-Organics International since October 2014, she represents IFOAM on the IOAS board.

(February 4, 2015) The National Organic Program (NOP) recently added an allowance for the use of biodegradable, biobased mulch films to the USDA regulations for organic crop production.

(December 8, 2014) OMRI (The Organic Materials Review Institute) is pleased to announce the launch of a new, mobile responsive website at OMRI.org. Now all of the OMRI website features are available to visitors on tablets and smartphones.

(December 4, 2014) As part of the process for revising and reprinting the Generic Materials List© and OMRI Standards Manual© for products reviewed in accordance with the USDA organic regulations, OMRI is considering several changes. Your input is essential to the process.
