OMRI Canada Achieves 100 Products
(June 24, 2015) The OMRI Canada Products List© recently exceeded 100 products, thanks to the committed applicants who make it a priority to verify the organic compliance of their input products. OMRI just began reviewing products to the Canadian Organic Standards in 2014, and the list has grown steadily. With the popular Atlantic Canadian Regional Organic Network (ACORN) list now retired, there was a growing need to identify verified products that meet the Canadian Organic Standards in particular.
"We hear a lot about how valuable this resource is to certifiers and producers, and we feel fortunate to be in a position to provide a comprehensive and reliable list, " says Peggy Miars, Executive Director/CEO of OMRI. "We look forward to receiving more applications for OMRI Canada so we can continue to build the list into the future."

OMRI also recently welcomed Jean Duval to join Kelly Monaghan, Garry Lean and Rochelle Eisen on the OMRI Canada Review Panel, the decision making body for product applications. The OMRI Canada Review Panel is made up of experts throughout Canada who have all worked with the country's organic standards for decades.
According to Jean, "There is a serious need in Canada for a reliable list, with consistent and thorough input verification. I am looking forward to working on this list and providing this important tool for growers and processors."
